Membership Update on 2020 Box Lacrosse Season
I realize these are trying times and our patience with this pandemic is wearing thin but it is hopeful that some restrictions are slowly starting to be lifted and there is a glimmer of hope that we will have some sort of return to activity in the foreseeable future.
If you have watched or read some of the local news, you will have heard that Lacrosse was mentioned as one of the sports that the Provincial Health Officer has indicated may return however, there will be limitations as to what can be allowed. The BCLA is working with Sport BC and the Ministry of Health on designing a safe return and will communicate that to the Member Clubs once approved.
What I do know is that should we return, it will be in a very modified version. Again, I have no foresight into what it will look like but physical contact is something that the Health Ministry wants to eliminate during the pandemic and obviously that is a big part of Lacrosse.
I ask for continued patience while we work with the BCLA and CLA on return to activity guidelines that are being developed.
In regards to registration payments for this season, your Executive will be meeting to decide proper course of actions and options for our members. As a 100% volunteer run Club, we don't have payroll expenses however, we did have expenses for the 2020 season as we were preparing and in full swing prior to the sudden halt. Normal yearly expenses like balls, shorts, polo shirts for coaches, coach clinics, ref clinics, BCLA Player Insurance Fees and Floor rental fees plus other annual recurring expenses up to the halt in activity were already expensed. All expenses have been halted since the stop in play.
We will issue another communication in the coming weeks once we have further updates or any new information. Please encourage your children to keep sticks in their hands and remain active.
Thank you for your continued patience.
